The founder of the Chung Tai World Museum, the Venerable Master Wei Chueh, guided by the compassionate vows of the Dharma, promoted the Fivefold Dharma Movement—education, scholarship, art, science, and daily life—hoping thereby to spread the Buddha’s compassion and wisdom far and wide. The construction of the “Chung Tai World Museum” is a concrete realization of the Dharma-as-art ideal, serving as a platform for “transforming the world through art.” In accordance with the founder’s vision for the museum—“propagating the Dharma, preserving history and culture, education, art”—and his sense of responsibility toward and faith in Buddhism, we hope that through exhibitions of Buddhist art and culture we can provide historical testimony, deepen public understanding of Buddhism and inspire faith, planting the seeds of the Buddha’s wisdom, compassion, and spirit of equality in the hearts of all who are connected with us.
