It is located on the north side of Touwu Junior High School. It is said that the four sides of the old house were surrounded by green bamboo, hence the name "Zhuzai Pavilion". Another story says that the Xu family was a scholarly family. In the late Qing dynasty and during the Japanese rule, many literati emerged. The Xu family was located on the south bank of Longjing Lake, Longjing Stream. Several pavilions made of bamboo were built as places to entertain poets and scholars from mountain cities, and thus got its name. The Xu family of Zhuzai Pavilion, whose ancestral home is in Jiaoling, Guangdong, was founded by its 14th-generation ancestor Xu Haomin, who crossed the sea to Taiwan during the Qianlong period and settled in the current site of Kangtou Village, Miaoli. The house was initially built during the Guangxu period and was slightly renovated after the 1931 earthquake. It is still well-preserved today. The front yard is divided into inner and outer courtyards, with a stone flagpole on the right side of the outer courtyard. The house adopts a swallow-tail design. The doors and windows of the main hall are intricately carved, and the flowers and decorations are delicate. The hall is dedicated to the ancestors of the Xu family of the Donghai Hall. The back door of the main hall is behind the shrine, which is a rare layout. Not far from the Xu family is Longjing Lake, which is located at the confluence of the Laotianliao Stream and the HouLong Stream. It is a deep pool. In the past, the lake surface was wide and was the best place for villagers to compete in dragon boat racing and for literati to enjoy boating, admiring the moon, and reciting poems. Therefore, "Moon over the Dragon Pool" was once one of the eight scenic spots.
