In the year 1997, the government encouraged farmers to transform their profession. Mr. Zhuang Chien-Chin, the leader of the sweet potato production and marketing class, began to undertake the task of promoting Hakka culture in 1999. Leveraging his exceptional bamboo weaving skills that he had acquired through years of farming, he established a Bamboo Weaving Exhibition Hall to preserve and showcase Hakka culture. His entire family joined him in operating the rural eco-tourism initiative, "竹語茶蘆" (Bamboo Talking Tea芦). The tour program includes Hakka culture, family history, architectural guided tours, old farming tool displays, ox cart rides, as well as sweet potato roasting, grass weaving, and bamboo weaving workshops, and more. In the future, they hope to expand and develop homestay accommodations, aiming to make Nopu a representative destination for rural countryside tourism.
