In the 1970s to 1990s, it was the heyday of the glass factory. Manzhu's predecessor was a factory that produced glass. At that time, glass jar candles were popular, and the company adopted a vertically integrated approach, producing and selling its products directly. However, in the 1990s, the glass industry began to decline. Manzhu shifted its focus to producing artistic candles, with wax figurine dolls being particularly popular in exports to Europe and America. During the research and development process, Mr. Chen, the owner, began to think, "The candle factory must transform!" He aimed to create a candle factory suitable for family DIY activities, designing candles that were perfect for children to create and express themselves. "I hope that all families visiting Manzhu can leave with a full harvest of happiness and satisfaction!" Thus, the name "_Manzhu" was born. In 2015, it was certified as a storytelling museum by the Miaoli County Government, with the goal of promoting more stories and goodness about candles to the public nationwide. The Manzhu DIY Candle Story Museum in Toufen showcases the culture and art of candles, with thousands of festival candles exported to various countries. The museum allows Taiwanese people to understand the common knowledge of candles. In addition to parent-child candle coloring DIY activities, the Manzhu DIY Candle Story Museum also offers guided tours of the candle manufacturing process.
