Central Broadcasting Station Minxiong Substation’s Japanese-style dormitory group was roughly established in 1940 (Showa 15), the same year Minxiong Broadcasting Station was founded. The term “broadcasting station” referred to radio stations during the Japanese occupation period.

The importance and representativeness of the Minxiong Broadcasting Office in the development of Taiwan’s broadcasting industry further enhance the historical value of the Japanese-style dormitory group of the Central Broadcasting Station Minxiong Substation. Using the “Taiwan Governor-General Office Official Residence Architectural Standards” promulgated in 1922 (Taisho 11) as a benchmark, the dormitory area preserved by the current Minxiong Substation can be divided into four types of official residences: higher-level official residences, Grade A official residences with two houses, Grade B official residences with two houses, and Grade C official residences with two houses. A clustered settlement holds greater significance and presents greater preservation challenges than a single building because it retains the environment and atmosphere of that time. This unique environment, combined with the surrounding surroundings and the Japanese-style reception houses of the Central Broadcasting Station Minxiong Substation, forms an important historical and cultural preservation area that fully showcases the characteristics of industrial architecture from Taiwan’s Japanese occupation period, making it rare and distinctive.

The historical space related to the Japanese-style dormitory group of the Central Broadcasting Station Minxiong Substation remains well preserved. Its historical value was officially listed as a historical building of Chiayi County by the Chiayi County Government on July 6, 2000.
