Mingguan's predecessor was the Mingguan Ceramic Factory, which was founded in 1982 and was known for designing and developing various kinds of dolls and seasonal European and American ornaments. After the industry was transformed and moved abroad, the factory was temporarily idle in 1991. However, the husband-and-wife operators, who are passionate about art, have always been fond of the aesthetic industry. The idea of running an art museum began to take shape. In early 1994, the dream was finalized, and the renovation plan began. With the participation of architectural design and artist friends, the museum was completed in November of the same year. Mingguan has since entered the field of culture and art.
