In addition, the geological park, Jin Guashih Shrine, Tea Pot Mountain, the prisoner of war camp, and the Golden Waterfall, are important attractions around the museum area. Within the Gold Museum area, there is not only the museum, but also tunnel experiences, shrine ruins, four-story Japanese-style dormitory buildings, the Jin Guashih Prince Hotel, police station, post office, which is the first ecological museum-style area in Taiwan. The Gold Museum displays the mining history of Jiufen and Jin Guashih, related mining artifacts, and various knowledge about gold, and visitors can also touch a 220 kg 999 gold brick. Ben Shan No. 5 Mine is one of the few remaining intact mines, and the tunnel entrance made of red bricks is now open for visitors to view. The air compressor, mine car head, washroom, and mining cableway used in the past for gold mining are still placed inside and at the entrance of the tunnel, allowing visitors to experience the real mine tunnel. The first floor exhibits the mining history of Jiufen and Jin Guashih, as well as related mining artifacts. The content includes tunnel models, inclined plane cableway explanations, mining tools and miners' supplies, prisoner of war camps, etc. These reflect the daily life of the mining area as shown in the Refining Building, the geographical and climatic features of the mine area as shown in the Environmental Hall, and the tunnel experience of Ben Shan No. 5 Mine, which together fully display the unique natural and cultural landscape of this area. The most eye-catching exhibit is the newly added Jiufen Golden Ball, which represents the specific achievements of private gold refining in the Jiufen area in the past. As soon as you enter the first floor exhibition room, the first thing you face is a gold wall made of thousands of gold leaf pieces, with relief figures of miners and the words "Gold Museum". Visitors can take photos in front of the wall first. The theme of the first floor exhibition room is the display and introduction of historical materials related to the Jin Guashih gold mine. On the walls of the corridor, there are brief introductions to the history of the discovery of the Jin Guashih gold mine, from the age of great navigation in the 16th century, through the Qing Dynasty's Liu Mingchuan era, when a Chinese laborer accidentally discovered a gold vein, to the Japanese colonial period, when the Japanese joint stock company took over the mine in an enterprise-style production, and to the period when the Nationalist Government moved to Taiwan, the gold mine gradually disappeared, profits declined, and the mine was transferred to the Taiwan Power Company and the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. It is a detailed historical account. Next is the system display of the Ben Shan tunnel, introducing the time period, relative distribution, and scale of the nine mine sites of Ben Shan. The total length of the nine mines is about 600 kilometers, equivalent to the length of a full circle around Taiwan. Further on, there are old photos of four types of transportation tools used in the Jin Guashih mine, as well as displays of mining tools and other artifacts. At the end, there is a film room showing the memory of the mine, which lasts about 18 minutes. Don't miss the old miners narrating with a nostalgic tone about the splendid golden years. The first floor exhibition area also has an introduction to the Japanese "Prisoner of War Camp" set up during World War II, commemorating this indelible historical trace. The second floor exhibition area is themed around gold. It first introduces the history of how gold began to be used, and exhibits a chronological history of the spread of gold from ancient Western to Eastern civilizations. Next is the role of gold products in human life, with various gold products categorized and displayed according to life stages such as marriage, funerals, happiness, and celebrations, allowing visitors to rethink the meaning of gold jewelry in life. There are also video clips where gold artisans share their experiences in gold carving creation, and exhibition cabinets displaying local artists' gold art pieces. The highlight of the second floor is the 220 kg gold block, the museum's treasure, which was a joint production by the Gold Museum and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, funded by the Central Bank. There is an electronic signboard displaying the day's gold price. Visitors can touch the gold block and estimate its value. The third floor of the museum is the location for gold panning experience. At the ticket booth outside the first floor, you can pay 100 NT dollars to participate in scheduled experiences, which include teaching on hand panning, and the gold sand you pan can be taken home for viewing. On the other side of the third floor platform is the Gold Shop, which offers related souvenirs of the park, allowing visitors to view and purchase gifts.
