A joint initiative of the New Taipei City Government and the central government, the “New Taipei City Surfing Education Park” links the nearby Zhongjiao Bay International Surf Base, the Surf Academy on the campus of Zhongjiao Elementary School in Jinshan District, a semi-outdoor land-surf practice area, and the outdoor multi-functional training ground at Jinshan Senior High School. It is Taiwan’s first surfing hub built around educational features, extreme sports, local culture, and tourism, injecting a brand-new sports experience into local sightseeing and becoming a fresh highlight of the Youth Mountain-Sea Line. Zhongjiao Elementary School’s Surf Academy, the city’s first model surfing school, doubles as a training center for competitive surfers; Jinshan Senior High School has been chosen to establish a three-tier system covering elementary, junior-high, and senior-high levels. Every summer the popular surf camp is the top choice for citizens and families to beat the heat—places sell out as soon as registration opens—letting people of all ages try surfing and SUP through safe, land- and water-based lessons and enjoy colorful aquatic recreation.
