Located in the Waipu District, the Shui Liu Dong Tong Hua Trail is 2.4km long. Formerly known as Shui Liu Dong Lover's Gorge, it was renamed to Tong Hua Trail in 2009. Local residents planted tung flowers along both sides of the irrigation ditch. Every year, from April to May, the trail is blanketed with falling tung flowers like snow. Previously, Shui Liu Dong was an irrigation channel, generally flowing from east to west. However, this particular irrigation channel was built with a gradual incline from west to east. From the elevated trail, you can look down on the vineyards and tomato fields. The high-speed rail observation deck, situated next to the Shui Liu Dong Tong Hua Trail, is the closest observation deck to the high-speed rail. By referring to the schedule, you can watch the high-speed trains whizzing by. This trail is suitable for hiking and cycling, and it's a favorite route among locals in Waipu. As you stroll along the Tong Hua Trail in the Yongfeng Village, you will pass by rice fields and orchards. The ditch in the middle leads to a slope with a 10-story drop, called "Shui Chong Yu". When the water volume is large, it creates an impressive sight, like a dam release. On a hot summer day, walking on the trail can be a refreshing experience. It's recommended to slow down and let your steps wander with the fragrance of the countryside. Listen to the chirping of insects and birds, and gaze at the high-speed trains whizzing by and the patchwork of fields from a distance. You can also bring food and have a picnic with friends and family at a high spot, enjoying a leisurely afternoon.
