Car Cheng Winery is located in the Car Cheng Village of Shuili Township, Nantou. It officially opened on April 20, 1993. The main members are farmers from the Shuili Township Agricultural Association Fruit Orchard Sales Class 3, who mainly cultivate plum trees. Under the technical guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, the traditional farming model was upgraded and transformed into refined agriculture. When the winery was first set up, the original site’s factory building suffered heavy damage from Typhoon Maemi at the end of July 1990. The existing factory, equipment, and products were destroyed by landslides, so there was even a consideration of abandoning the winery project. Finally, with the assistance of the Shuili Township Agricultural Association, the shareholding participation scope was expanded from the members of Fruit Orchard Sales Class 3 to all plum growers within Shuili’s jurisdiction. This enabled the establishment of the “Car Cheng Winery” in the acclaimed “Last Train Station” and “Secret Garden” Car Cheng community, allowing the delicious taste of the hometown plum to continue. Quiet, graceful, and safe, the winery is surrounded by mountains and forests. To the front flows the ever-flowing Shuili River; behind are the lush green mountains and trees; to the left is the largest reservoir and power plant in Asia, Mingtan Reservoir Power Plant; to the right you can overlook the “Last Train Station” at Car Cheng Station and the beautiful railway scenery.
