Yongzhen Palace is located in Tianliao Village, Toufen City, just over a kilometer away from Zhunan Town. The temple is magnificent yet simple, with ancient banyan trees providing shade in the front and a serene environment.
In 1853, during the Qing dynasty, Xu Yingjian, a renowned scholar, initiated the construction of Yongzhen Palace in Tianliao. Upon completion, the temple was blessed with divine guidance, and people from Toufen, Sanwan, Nanjhuang, Emei, Beipu, Zaoqiao, Zhunan, as well as Hsinchu and Miaoli, would come to worship. The residents' hearts were inclined towards goodness.
The temple primarily worships the Heavenly Mother, and the statue of Mazu in the inner hall exudes a dignified aura. On the right side, there is a statue of the Great General Guan, a protective deity of immigrants from Quanzhou. This reflects that the followers of Yongzhen Palace are not limited to people of Minnan or Guangdong origins.
On the left side is a statue of the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Next to the Mazu statue, there is a niche dedicated to the immortal Faming. This is a unique feature among Mazu temples across Taiwan and is quite rare. The side halls on the left and right worship the God of Literature and Virtue, the God of Good Fortune, and the Longevity Status. The hall is decorated with glittering gold, and the various carvings and handicrafts are exquisite.
Important festivals and activities are held three times a year:
1. On the 23rd day of the 2nd lunar month - The Heavenly Mother's birthday.
2. On the 8th day of the 4th lunar month - The Goddess's procession.
3. On the 15th day of the 7th lunar month - The Universal Salvation Day.
