Located in Gukeng Township, Yunlin County, it is the highest-elevation mountain village in Yunlin. The Shibi Wooden Horse Ancient Trail has long been a hidden gem appreciated by only a handful of visitors. The trail is now cloaked in dense vegetation that provides protection, so development has been kept to a minimum. The approach is to foster small-scale, in-depth, and distinctive tourism to reduce impact on the local environment. Wooden Horse Ancient Trail zoning plan: **Wooden Horse Ancient Trail Entrance Area (0–450 m):** The entrance area is the main scenic and recreational node. The Five-Yuan Two-Jiao Pavilion, Nongchi Pond, and bamboo-charcoal kilns have been restored for visitors to enjoy. **Native Broadleaf Forest Restoration Zone:** From 450 m to 1,000 m along the trail, dominated by Moso bamboo stands. **Moso Bamboo Management Plan:** From 1,000 m to 2,000 m, the Moso bamboo stands continue. After community thinning and the installation of viewing platforms, the scenery has taken on a new character. **Chinese Fir Management Zone:** From 2,000 m to 2,400 m, a mixed forest of Chinese fir, Moso bamboo, and broadleaf trees. At the trail’s end, an elevated bamboo-and-wood boardwalk allows visitors to admire the Cryptomeria grove from above. Looking back along the remnants of the wooden horse track, one can still trace its winding journey through the forest.
