Dongshiliao Harbor was once the only sand-free harbor in Yunlin County. In ancient times, it was a commercial port where boats gathered and trade was prosperous. However, due to sedimentation, the harbor is no longer as thriving as it once was. Nowadays, Dongshiliao is mostly known for its mullet fish ponds, with oyster farming shallow waters and eel and shrimp ponds visible everywhere. The accumulation of sandy beaches and wetland ecosystems along the coast has also given Dongshiliao new life. The coastal promenade connecting the fishing port to Sandao, has attracted many tourists to ride bicycles and enjoy the scenery. At sunset, the orange-red sky paired with towering wind turbines, making the sunset scenery even more breathtaking. There are also dedicated bike lanes on both sides of the road from the fishing village to the port, making it a great place for walking and cycling. Visitors can experience the enthusiasm of the sunny sea, tide, and fishing port.
