This residence is a two-entry compound with a three-story courtyard, flanked on both sides by protective dragons. The structure is primarily brick, with earth walls filling the spaces, resulting in a very spacious interior. In addition to the main gate, there are side entrances on both sides of the protective dragons. Due to age and neglect, the building underwent extensive renovation. As a result, the roofs of the two wings were covered with Japanese-style gray tiles, while the main hall was updated with Western-style red tiles. Many of the traditional Minnan brick walls have been replaced with red brick, significantly altering the original appearance. The Chen family’s descendants have prospered elsewhere, with members serving as village heads, county councilors, chairpersons, and medical doctors, and the family remains a prominent local lineage.
