As you walk along the precipitous cliffside trail, the azure ocean on one side and the emerald green mountains on the other evoke a profound sense of awe and admiration for the breathtaking scenery. The name "Longdong" originates from the coastal rocks that curve like a giant dragon coiled around the area. The cape trail connects two major capes in the Northeast Corner and weaves together two stories from different eras: the 6 million-year-old Nose Angle and the 35 million-year-old Longdong Cape. You'll feel a deep respect for nature and be amazed by the spectacular scenery created by the intersection of time and space.
The trail starts at the Xilingyan Temple, and it takes only a few minutes to reach the observation platform. From here, you can gaze out at the sea, listen to the waves, and admire the peculiar rocks. The elevated vantage point offers a panoramic view of the magnificent sea landscape and the rugged cliffs. You might even spot climbers fully geared up and scaling the rocky walls – the famous Longdong rock climbing spot that attracts enthusiasts from around the world.
In just 2-3 hours, a visit here feels like traversing millions of years. Apart from feeling the power of geological shifts and the passage of time, hiking uphill also invigorates the body and mind. The stunning scenery where mountains meet the sea leaves a lasting impression. When you have time, come and visit this ancient and resilient geological wonder that transcends time and space.
