Yangmingshan, formerly known as Caoshan, was renamed to commemorate the Ming dynasty scholar Wang Yangming. It serves as Taipei's urban backyard, situated in the suburbs and offering a convenient escape from the city bustle for leisure activities. Due to its location in a volcanic zone, the unique volcanic topography and geological structures have created hot spring landscapes in this area. Yangmingshan hot springs are generally divided into four regions: the Yangmingshan National Park surroundings, Lengshuiting, Mashao, and Huagengzi Ping. Due to frequent geothermal activity, the four regions' hot springs contain different mineral components, resulting in varying water temperatures, spring qualities, and therapeutic effects.
Yangmingshan is located in the Datun Volcano Group. The hot springs in the Yangmingshan scenic area are divided into Front Mountain springs and Rear Mountain springs, with many hot spring inns available. Combined with the numerous scenic spots and culinary delights on the mountain, it is ideal for a two-day trip combining mountain climbing, sightseeing, and hot spring soaking.
