Peach Blossom Valley

2021-05-10
Taoyuan Valley, formerly known as "Kunanzi Mountain," was in early times a place where children herded livestock and played during the agricultural off-season. As the name suggests, Taoyuan Valley is the Wuling people's source of peach blossoms, exuding a sense of peace and serenity beyond the mundane world. Paired with a few simple houses, rising wisps of smoke from cooking fires, and the distant sounds of hens and dogs, hikers who undertake this journey will surely leave with a deep, unforgettable impression. The traditional route to Taoyuan Valley from Renze Community involves a winding, steeply ascending trail that meanders through curves and peaks before opening up to a breathtaking view, clearing the mind as one gazes upward or downward, allowing for a renewed sense of clarity.

Proceeding onward leads to the Guangxiang Prairie, a wild expanse of grassland full of natural charm. This green meadow, situated at an altitude of 500 meters, tilts nearly 30 degrees and stretches for about four to five hundred meters. The slope's short yet densely packed grass resembles an exquisitely woven blanket crafted by nature itself. On sunny days, the prairie offers a westward view of Sandianling and an eastern glimpse of the Pacific Ocean; on cloudy days, mist and clouds roll in, creating a scene suitable even for playing hide-and-seek. In autumn and winter, strong seasonal winds push cloud clusters across the sky, causing the entire mountain's Imperata grass to appear and vanish within the foggy layers like a veil.

On the grassy slopes, visitors can gather to chat, laugh, or lie down in comfort in a relaxed, spread-eagle posture to gaze at the azure sky, while mountain winds blend with seashar breezes. Standing at the highest point, the Lan-yang Plain and Guishan Island lie below at your feet—where land and sea intertwine, and human presence fades away—truly a paradisiacal, otherworldly realm. On the return journey, there is the Stone Guanyin Ancient Temple, where a flavorful, sweet spring water is available to quench the fatigue of your travels. The deities and Bodhisattvas within the stone cave also ensure blessings for peace, prosperity, and worldly success. For those seeking to cleanse themselves of worldly troubles and burdens, Taoyuan Valley will be your best choice.
