屏東縣東港鎮大鵬灣潟湖
The only pouch-shaped "lagoon" landscape in Taiwan, the Dapeng Bay, features waters measuring approximately 3,500 meters in length and 1,800 meters in width, with a lagoon area exceeding 532 hectares and water depth ranging from 2 to 6 meters. The formation of this lagoon topography originated from the Tunggang Creek and Linbian Creek, which transported sand and silt from upstream into the ocean. Under the transport effects of tides and monsoons, a long, narrow gravel/sand zone—named a “sandspit”—emerged in the bay, separating the original bay from the open sea and leaving a single opening, forming today’s Dapeng Bay “lagoon” terrain.
