Ocean Stations are part of the Coast Guard Administration, Ocean Affairs Council’s response to the Executive Yuan’s “Embrace the Sea” policy, converting coast-guard buildings into educational and recreational Ocean Stations. Twelve have been established nationwide; Fulong Ocean Station was the first, comprising Fulong Sub-Station and Longmen Sub-Station.
Fulong Sub-Station sits beside Fulong Fishing Port in Gongliao, about a 10-minute walk from Fulong Railway Station. Longmen Sub-Station is located beside Longmen Beach and the mouth of the Shuangxi River, close to Fulong Beach, Sandiao Cape Lighthouse, and the Old Caoling Tunnel. Because the Shuangxi River is shallow and calm, the area has become a mecca for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. In addition to guided tours, the stations provide outdoor rinse areas, open-air rest zones, indoor restrooms, and accessible toilets.
