At Pinglin Suspension Bridge you’ll see a fish-viewing path on each side. The Pinglin Fish-Watching Trail links the Beishi and Yuku Creeks, stretching about 3.9 km—the longest of its kind in Taiwan. It winds past streams and tea gardens, flanked by emerald ridges and schools of fish. The level path is comfortable to walk; clear water reveals fish at play and birds poised to strike. Beishi Creek Trail After crossing the bridge, turn left. Along the Beishi Creek Trail are fish ladders that let the fish migrate. Thanks to a stream-closure program, the water stays crystal-clear; you can watch bitterlings and dace glide past, while herons wait for a catch. In breeding season, dozens of egrets line the trees on Pinglin Old Bridge, chicks clamoring for food. Length: 1.8 km loop Elevation: 181–199 m Surface: concrete, terrazzo, boardwalk Time: ~35 min Yuku Creek Trail From the bridge, go left past the Taipei Water-Shed Environmental Learning Center. This shared bike-and-foot path follows gentle water and mountain views. At the glass-deck overlook, stand on transparent flooring to watch the fish below—thrilling and intimate. The pedestrian section ends at Fude Temple; beyond, it becomes a cycling route downstream. Lengths: 1. Suspension Bridge → Dalin Bridge: 1.3 km, ~30 min 2. Dunan Bridge → Qingyun Bridge: 7.6 km, 4–4.5 h (out-and-back) Elevation: 177–260 m Surface: brick, boardwalk, concrete, asphalt
