Yiliu, an extension of the Dalun Mountain Range into the sea, forms a headland. Seen from Jinsan, it resembles a giant turtle submerged in the ocean, hence its nickname "Yiliu Turtle." Through the effects of wave erosion, rock weathering, and tectonic activity, Yiliu has created an array of unique geological features, including sea erosion gullies, candle-shaped stones, mushroom rocks, tofu-like formations, beehive stones, pot holes, and solution basins. Notably famous international coastal landmarks such as Queen's Head, Fairy's Sandal, and Candlestick Rock are located here. The bronze statue of Lin Tianzhen commemorates his heroic act of sacrificing himself to save others many years ago.

The "flame" of Candlestick Rock is actually a hard, spherical nodule within the rock stratum. More resistant to sea erosion than surrounding rock, this nodule forms a conical top. Seawater swirling along its edges excavates circular grooves, while a hard ring surrounding the nodule directs the seawater downward for cutting and erosion to form the cone shape. Truly, it is a masterpiece of nature's artistry. Yiliu is not only a famous tourism and recreational spot in Taiwan, but also a classroom rich in geological formations. We highly recommend taking the time to explore and appreciate these landscapes, as they exemplify the grandeur and mysterious power of nature.
