Jade Cake Company was established in 1975, originally named Jade Bakery, located at No. 277, Section 5, Nanjing East Road. Due to the 2001 Nari typhoon, many areas in Taipei were flooded. As this store was located in a low-lying area, it suffered serious water damage. After careful consideration, the store was relocated to its current location at No. 88, Section 5, Nanjing East Road.
Jade Cake's New Product of the Year: Red Bean and Egg Yolk Cake
Since the establishment of Jade Cake, the company's head pastry chef has always upheld the belief that only with good quality can it gain long-term trust from customers. Using the finest ingredients and never adding preservatives is the most sincere promise Jade Cake makes to its customers.
Freshly baked is certainly the best, and the fresh taste is the key to deliciousness. When you step into Jade Cake, you will be greeted by freshly baked, warm, flaky pastries, filled with the natural aroma of milk, instantly stimulating your sense of smell. You will definitely be eager to take a bite.
The store owner, Chen Tangpeng, grew up in a poor family, living in the coastal town of Yuanli, Miaoli County. His family made a living by fishing. However, seeing his neighbors going to other places to make a living and bringing back many breads and pastries, he became very interested in these unfamiliar items. He then became an apprentice in making pastries in Ershui, Changhua, and spent over four years learning from scratch, studying bread, pineapple cakes, wife cakes, sun cakes, and mung bean cakes.
At the age of 18, he completed his apprenticeship and started to go north to Taipei to make a living. He worked in many well-known pastry shops, and gradually improved his skills. When he was 26, he wanted to open his own shop. Due to limited funds, he finally found the address at No. 277, Section 5, Nanjing East Road. Starting with a small shop (also selling cigarettes and milk powder), it gradually attracted more attention from customers.
Because of the owner's dedication and passion for pastries, the products have become increasingly popular among customers. Whether it is for gift-giving when traveling abroad or sending to relatives and friends at home and abroad, Jade Cake has always been the preferred choice for Taipei residents. In 1996, Jade Cake participated in the Second Creative Pineapple Cake Competition organized by the Taipei City Government and the Taipei Pastry Association, and its cranberry pineapple cake won the first prize in the gold selection.
