Shou Tian Temple is the most vibrant temple in the Gangshan area, located on the northern side of Zhongshan Park on Park Road. Since the 51st year of the Kangxi era of the Qing dynasty, the devotees had brought the sub-spirit of Tianhou, the goddess from Tainan's Tienshou Palace to Gangshan, and the temple now boasts a history of hundreds of years. The construction of Shou Tian Temple is resplendent with gold and color, adopts a three-story palace-style design of the southern Chinese style, with exquisite swallowtail-shaped roof brackets and color clay sculptures on the roofs. The interior of the temple is opulently detailed and features exquisite frescoes by the renowned artist Pan Lizhui. The architectural and artistic achievements are extraordinary. The main hall enshrines Tianhou, the goddess from the sky (Mazu), and also houses statues of Guanyin, the Jade Emperor, and the Wealth Deity. Due to its long history, Shou Tian Temple houses several historical artifacts, such as the Agongdian public measuring vessel, the "Zhu'an Xu" stone tablet, stone lions and stone lanterns from the Japanese colonial period, and processional palanquins from shrines. Outside the temple, the site integrates with Zhongshan Park's pavilions and ponds, creating a delightful scenery. Shou Tian Temple is not only a center of devotion for Gangshan's locals but also deserves repeated visits for its traditional architectural aesthetics and cultural relics.
