Wan Nei Rainbow - Xingjia Suspension Bridge
The Xingjia Suspension Bridge, as its name suggests, is a suspension bridge that spans across the city of Chiayi. In 2007, the renowned Hsing-Ming-Te Charity Group funded and built the bridge to facilitate the daily commute of students and residents between the two banks. The bridge connects Xing'an Village and Xingcun Village.
The Xingjia Suspension Bridge features a 3.1-kilometer-long bicycle path lined with Taiwan tung trees. On the south side lies the Xingren Section Riverbank Sports Park and Waterfront Park. Additionally, the Xingcun Section boasts a riverside ecological walkway, ecological garden, and the religious wood carving art of the Cixian Gong Temple. All these attractions signify that Chiayi City's South District ecological recreation space is gradually taking shape.
To boost local tourism, the Chiayi City Government has installed nighttime neon lighting on the bridge. At night, the suspension bridge shines like a long, sparkling necklace, making it a stunning landmark in the urban blue belt.
.History Encyclopedia
The Xingjia Suspension Bridge is the 330th bridge built by the Hsing-Ming-Te Charity Group in Chiayi, and it is the longest bridge built to date. The bridge's construction costs and labor were fully funded and completed by the group. Construction began on November 26, 2006, and was completed on September 23, 2007, taking a total of 10 months. The bridge spans 297 meters, stands 33.2 meters high, and is 1.65 meters wide. It is a double-span, three-pier suspension bridge. For pedestrian safety and to prevent strong winds from causing the bridge to sway, steel beams and supporting wooden boards were installed on the bridge during construction. Wooden handrails and steel frames were also set up on both sides. To increase the bridge's stability, steel cables resembling centipede legs were installed on both sides beneath the bridge deck.
