To give cyclists on the Dahan River a quality rest stop, the New Taipei City Government has created a cultural “Bike Station” inside the nearby “Nanzi Gou Pumping Station” next to the Xinyue Bridge. The station’s environment and facilities have been upgraded, directional signs added, and a rest platform and washrooms installed so visitors feel right at home. To enrich the station, the project team interviewed the Bangqiao Culture Association of New Taipei City, obtained historical and cultural information about the Nanzi Gou area of Banqiao, and displayed lively illustrated panels in the rest area. While taking a break, cyclists can learn about the land beneath their wheels, enhancing their cultural literacy. The Bike Station thus offers cyclists a safe and comfortable resting place while also serving flood control, recreation, and environmental-education functions.
Formerly the Nanzi Gou Pumping Station on the right bank of the Dahan River and along the Nanzi Gou bikeway, part of the facility has been converted into the Bike Station. Follow the signs, cross the Shuangxi Mouth flood-prevention bridge, and you’re there. The station provides toilets, air pumps, and water. Inside the lounge you can relax while discovering local stories of old Banqiao Nanzi Gou. The biggest eye-catcher, though, is a 26-m-high, 18-m-wide mural themed on the world-famous *The Little Prince*—the beloved Little Prince, Fox, and Rose await your visit on Planet B612!
