Originally the Guanyin Sea Bathing Area, the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area features large windmills turning with sea breezes beside the beach, and a blue-and-white Mediterranean-style viewing pavilion—longtime photo hotspots for travelers and film set locations. Recently, the circular trail and scenic plaza along Guanyin Creek have been introduced, elevating the photogenic quality and expanding travel experiences. Along Provincial Highway 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District to reach the Coastal Recreation Park. Although the iconic Guanyin statue, symbolizing locals' memories, was damaged by a typhoon in 2015 and no longer visible, visiting the Willow Net Vase Plaza and Guanlong Trail within the park provides an alternative way to experience local culture. Designed after the sacred object—Willow Net Vase—held by the Guanyin Buddha, the plaza’s undulating metal bridge symbolizes the willow branch, subtly integrating the regional Guanyin Buddhist culture. The open park built along Guanyin Creek features a minimalist lattice pattern, enhancing a relaxing atmosphere. To the right of the plaza, the bridge exit leads upward for views of Guanyin Creek, Wuwei Channel shoreline, and the century-old Basha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Willow Net Vase Plaza, the Guanlong Trail combines metallic curves with bamboo-crafted lattices, vividly evoking a dragon's head. The path is paved with colored tiles shaped as dragon-scale patterns, symbolizing Guanyin riding a dragon. Opposite the plaza lies a lotus pond where the bridge invites strollers into a blend of vibrant flowers and the gentle rural charm of surrounding red-brick ancestral houses. Continuing along the coastline toward the towering wind power turbines, enjoy seascapes while summer brings limited-time orange-red fields of red sage. Delicate blossoms sway with sea breezes, adding vivid memories to your journey.
