Taiji Ridge Trail is located inside Lengshuikeng Leisure Park in Tucheng. Close to downtown Tucheng, it offers a tranquil mountain lake and a network of hiking trails—Wenbi Mountain, Jiangjun Ridge, Wucheng Mountain, and Taiji Ridge—that have long served as a backyard playground for local residents. Because the area around Taiji Ridge produces abundant tung blossoms, the trail has recently become one of the “Tucheng May Tung Blossom Festival” viewing routes. In early spring 2012, after media coverage of a 101-step “cherry-blossom tunnel” near the summit, the trail turned into a newly discovered cherry-blossom hideaway in New Taipei City. A walk along Taiji Ridge Trail not only offers flower viewing but also panoramic vistas of Tucheng, Banqiao, Xinzhuang below, and even the Linkou Plateau and Guanyin Mountain in the distance, leaving visitors both delighted and refreshed. Taiji Ridge itself is a flat terrace on the mountainside of the Wucheng range; hikers have planted numerous cherry trees along the path, turning it into one of Tucheng’s secret cherry-blossom spots in recent years. From the trailhead beside the Mountain Lake parking lot, it takes about 30 minutes on foot to reach the ridge, and one can also ascend from No. 64 or No. 68 Shimen Road. Atop the ridge stands a 101-step entrance symbolizing health and wealth, making it a popular hiking route for day-trippers from Tucheng.
