Lukang Black Pine Cone Noodles

2025-09-05
Chia-chai noodles, also known to the older generation as Wencan noodles, have a history of more than 50 years passed down from Wencan Ber. Chia-chai noodles are still prepared with the most traditional bamboo ladles, the freshly cooked noodles combined with broth made from large bones, and accompanied by the classic meat sauce and three types of homemade meatballs—fried rolls, shrimp balls, pork balls, and taro balls—made with fresh ingredients each day. The shop also offers rice dishes such as pork rib rice, braised pork rice, pig's feet rice, and various side dishes. Source: Lukang Township Office Chia-chai noodles are basically regular sliced noodles, but what sets them apart here is the clear broth topped with shrimp balls, fried rolls, and other rich toppings, making the entire bowl of noodles delicious and enticing.
