The Tropic of Cancer Monument Park is located in the Riushui Wuhu Terraces, where the white sundial is a must-stop photo spot for visitors passing through the Wuhu Terraces. The park features an outdoor parking lot, a giant teapot-shaped installation artwork, restrooms, walking trails, and a rest area. The trail from the parking lot to the park is barrier-free, allowing travelers of all ages to walk comfortably to the Tropic of Cancer monument for a photo with the teapot installation, or view interpretive signs explaining the four cardinal directions and the 24 constellations and astronomical phenomena. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding tea fields and mountainous landscapes of the Wuhu Terraces. Along the wooden corridors on both sides of the park, numerous interpretive panels provide information about astronomy, climate, solar terms, and Earth Sciences. Vendors near the park also sell premium red tea and Wuhu Coffee, offering travelers a place to relax with a fine cup of tea or coffee. Guests can also conveniently take home souvenirs as gifts. Summer is the best season to observe the unique astronomical phenomena on the Tropic of Cancer, as well as capture the breathtaking views of the tea fields and the Central Mountain Range. The vivid blue sky, the prominent white Tropic marker, emerald tea fields, and the distant Central Mountain Range form the most iconic landscape of the Wuhu Terraces, a scenic must-see for passersby. The Tropic of Cancer marks the northernmost point in the Northern Hemisphere where the sun's rays directly reach, located at 23.5 degrees north latitude. On the summer solstice, the sun shines directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer, creating the unique phenomenon of "no shadow at noon." Furthermore, most regions the Tropic passes are arid deserts; Taiwan is a rare oasis along this line of latitude. Its subtropical island climate and monsoons create this extraordinary geographical scenery. In Taiwan, three Tropic of Cancer monuments have been established, located respectively in Shuishang Township of Chiayi, Ruishui Township of Hualien, and Fengbin Township. The Ruishui monument was first established in 1933 on the western side of the Riushui Train Station but relocated later due to the widening of the East Rift Railway Line. However, the actual intersection of the Tropic and Provincial Highway 9 is approximately two kilometers south of the current monument site.
