Mingdao High School has taken the lead in setting a precedent by being the first to establish a classical studies platform in 1993, following the creation of a national studies platform in 1983. In 1998, it further pioneered the establishment of a modern literature museum dedicated to housing authors' artifacts, manuscripts, and works. During its inaugural exhibition, the museum showcased items from the renowned author Sanmao, who is beloved by many book enthusiasts.
The Modern Literature Museum not only displays authors' artifacts but also features an Audio-Visual Zone and a Bibliographic Zone. The Audio-Visual Zone includes videotapes, audiobooks, and audio recordings of authors, allowing readers to enjoy a unique reading experience through sound and imagery. The Bibliographic Zone, in addition to housing works by renowned authors, places a strong emphasis on collecting literary anthologies, author biographies, literary critiques, and proceedings from academic conferences. It also meticulously collects works by Taiwanese authors, both past and present, as well as those from mainland Chinese authors. Works by authors from counties and cities across Taiwan are also included in the collection.
In recent years, the museum has widely compiled and organized articles, author interviews, and other materials published in newspapers and magazines. These materials are meticulously cataloged by authors' surnames and strokes, resulting in over 500 author entries and more than 2,000 documents bound into 70 volumes. These are available for perusal and research by those interested in literature.
The Mingdao Literary Society is renowned nationwide, and the museum's collection of related literary artifacts is extraordinarily rich. Since its establishment in 1999, the Mingdao High School Modern Literature Museum has continuously organized thematic exhibitions of authors' artifacts, making it not only a repository for literary materials but also a hub for literary activities.
