The National Army History Museum, commonly known as "Military History Museum," was completed and opened on October 31, 1961. It has three floors, with a total area of approximately 450 ping per floor. The purpose of establishing the museum is to display historical materials and artifacts of the National Army during various periods, to promote the spirit of the Whampoa Military Academy, to highlight the glorious history of the National Revolutionary Army during the Eastern Expedition, Northern Expedition, suppression of the Communists, War of Resistance against Japan, suppression of the Communist Rebellion, and the construction of Taiwan, as well as the current situation of the National Army's strengthening and development, in order to enhance the patriotism of the people and establish a national defense consensus. The museum has three floors, with a total of six exhibition rooms. From the first to the third exhibition room, the history of the National Army since the establishment of the Whampoa Military Academy in 1924 is presented in chronological order, including the Eastern Expedition, Northern Expedition, War of Resistance against Japan, and the Chinese Civil War, through various materials such as artifacts, photographs, historical records, documents, and battle paintings to recreate the history. The fourth exhibition room focuses on the modern National Army, using photographs, models, and scenes to present the military strength of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The fifth exhibition room displays weapons and equipment from different periods. In addition, special exhibition rooms regularly hold special exhibitions to promote the heroic history of the National Army. Taiwan has not experienced war for the past 60 years, and the younger generation has never felt the terror of war, only having impressions from books or movies. However, peace has always come at a great cost. Visiting here will help you better understand the terror of war and the preciousness of peace.
