Linh An Tai's traditional Fujian-style courtyard house was first built in 1783, and has a history of more than 200 years. This single-story, two-bay, four-wing courtyard house was built according to folk feng shui customs. Its roof ridge structure adopts a single ridge style, with a swallow-tail curve to present a natural and gentle appearance. The front courtyard is paved with red pu stone, which was used by mainland merchant ships coming to Taiwan to stabilize the ship's body and prevent it from swaying. It is also called ballast stone, and its advantages include not growing moss and being slip-resistant. The materials used are mainly Fuzhou cedar, while the stone materials are Guanyin stone, and bamboo nails and wooden nails are used to join them with mortise and tenon joints. The moon-shaped pool in front of the courtyard house is shaped as its name suggests. In Chinese feng shui, it belongs to a type of treasure gathering and storage. It not only has functions such as defense, fire prevention, water supply, and temperature reduction, but also adds color to the courtyard's environment. By carefully observing the inside and outside of the old house, you can find the essence and wisdom of traditional architectural culture, and also catch a glimpse of the lifestyle and scenery of the past.
