The Bagua Mountain Ecological Visitor Center not only provides an in-depth introduction to the geological, environmental, and biological resources of the Bagua Mountains, but also highlights the area's most notable ecological feature: the annual migration of Grey-faced Buzzards. Every March, around the spring equinox, these birds migrate north from the south to their breeding grounds, stopping to rest in the Bagua Mountains. This phenomenon has made the Bagua Mountains a prime location for observing these magnificent creatures. The visitor center has been transformed into the nation's first Grey-faced Buzzard-themed center by the National Scenic Area of Three Mountains, and it is also Taiwan's first environmental education facility to receive certification with a Grey-faced Buzzard theme. About Grey-faced Buzzards: The Grey-faced Buzzard is a raptor with strong predatory abilities. As spring arrives, they migrate north to their breeding grounds around the spring equinox, temporarily stopping in areas such as the Bagua Mountain Scenic Area. This has led to their colloquial names: "Southern Road Eagle," "Qingming Bird," and "Tomb-Sweeping Bird." The annual "Eagle Soaring over Bagua" event is held during this time, inviting the public to come and observe these magnificent birds. Features of the Grey-faced Buzzard Theme Pavilion: The entire visitor center is filled with Grey-faced Buzzard elements, from the exterior walls featuring a large paper relief sculpture created by local artist Wang Zhenwen, to a massive steel sculpture of a Grey-faced Buzzard. The first floor's exhibit area offers AR and VR interactive experiences, an introduction to raptors, and more, allowing visitors to be immersed in the world of Grey-faced Buzzards from the moment they enter. The center provides rich tourism resources and ecological education content, including interactive displays on Bagua Mountain travel information, a special exhibit on Grey-faced Buzzard ecology and culture, a geological display area, and plant explanations.
