The Shigandang standing in Gancuo Village was erected by early settlers to protect the area; it has stood for more than three hundred years. Its present appearance was restored by local residents eighty years ago, and every Dragon-Boat Festival thanksgiving operas are still performed in its honor. Beside the Shigandang grows an upside-down banyan whose broad, luxuriant canopy is worshipped together with the stone at the same festival.
