The main reason is the owner, Mrs. Xu Yuye, who has faithfully followed the traditional method of steaming rice to make rice cakes and rice noodles for three decades, giving people a taste of mother‑in‑law’s warm, comforting flavor. In particular, the so‑called “alkali rice cakes” (俗稱「鹼仔粿」) are made entirely without borax; they are crafted from local rice—washed, milled, dried, then kneaded into dough by hand with no compromise.
