Performances start punctually every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00 PM. The 60-minute or 90-minute shows feature traditional arts such as Peking Opera, folk skills/acrobatics, puppetry, indigenous music and dance, lion dance, and theatrical performances, among others.
Unlike typical theater productions, performers at Taipei Playhouse consistently step beyond the proscenium stage before, during, and after intermissions, engaging the audience inside and outside the performance space with performative or non-performative interactions. This includes designated areas for viewing makeup and photography. The lobby at the front of the theater also offers various Peking Opera-themed experiences and special events for visitors to freely participate in.
Bridging language barriers, all performances are equipped with subtitles and program information provided in Chinese, Japanese, English, and Korean. On-site staff fluent in these four languages are available to warmly assist audiences in their preferred tongue, ensuring language restrictions have no sway over artistic appreciation.
To enjoy a romantic evening brimming with both international flair and local authenticity in Taipei, we warmly invite you to visit the Taipei Playhouse with a companion.
