DAEMON Tools USB: Share USB Devices Over Network

2025-09-13

DAEMON Tools USB is a discontinued software that allowed users to share USB devices over a network. Although it's no longer supported, its functionality has been integrated into DAEMON Tools iSCSI Target, which enables sharing virtual and physical optical drives, VHDs, and USB devices.

Key Features and Capabilities

DAEMON Tools USB was designed to share USB devices such as printers, scanners, webcams, keyboards, mice, and USB drives over LAN, WAN, VPN, or standard network connections. The software required installation on both the server and client machines, with the server specifying the devices to be shared and the client connecting via the server's IP address.

Replacement and Alternatives

The DAEMON Tools team has introduced DAEMON Tools iSCSI Target as a replacement, which includes the functionality of DAEMON Tools USB server and more. Users can utilize DAEMON Tools Lite or DAEMON Tools Ultra as client applications to work with various image types and virtual drives, in addition to sharing USB devices.

User Experience

The original DAEMON Tools USB software featured a simple interface, dividing its functionality into 'Remote Devices' and 'Local Devices' sections. Users could easily select devices to share or connect to shared devices by entering the server's IP address.
