The Wufeng District Farmers' Association established the Wufeng Mushroom Museum in 1998, which occupies an area of 400 ping (approximately 13,200 square feet). It is the only museum in Taiwan and one of the few worldwide dedicated to providing detailed information about mushrooms, with a particular focus on Taiwanese species. This museum is a treasure trove of knowledge. Since the successful cultivation of Taiwan's first button mushroom at the Agricultural Research Institute (Taiwan Provincial Agricultural Research Institute) in 1953, the Wufeng District has played a leading role in the island's mushroom industry. With government support, Wufeng has become a true "Mushroom Kingdom." In 2022, under the efforts of Huang Jingjian, the General Manager of the Wufeng District Farmers' Association, and with strong support from the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan and the Taichung City Government, the museum underwent renovation and was renamed the "Wufeng Mushroom Industry-Academia Museum." This renovation aimed to develop the mushroom industry chain in Wufeng. The museum also features an exhibition hall on the fourth floor, the "Taiwan Agricultural and Fisheries Products Museum," showcasing biotechnological products, cultural and creative goods, and various daily necessities made from high-quality Taiwanese mushrooms. This hall also offers a selection of premium agricultural and specialty products from the Taiwan Agricultural and Fisheries Association, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of industry trends while enjoying a comprehensive shopping experience for high-quality Taiwanese products.
