The Legend of Shiliu Station
Shiliu Station opened in the 38th year of the Meiji era under the name Shiliuban Station. During the 1960s, the station mainly supplied ballast for the entire island. Today it has been downgraded to a whistle-stop on the TRA Western Line, served only by commuter EMUs. The wooden station building and staff dormitory were constructed in the early post-war period.
Shiliu Train Station is located on the outskirts of Douliu City. Formerly known as “Shiliuban Station,” it sits between Douliu Station (to the south) and Linnei Station (to the north). Built of wood during the Japanese colonial era, it is Yunlin County’s only surviving early-period small station and is served only by local trains. With more than a century of history since the Japanese era, its simple Japanese style and tranquil setting have earned it the nickname “the century-old station.”
