The Mingde Reservoir was formed by damming the Lishan Creek, which cuts through the Bajiaoyun Mountain range, creating a gorge. The reservoir is surrounded by mountains and has a vast water area. The clear lake water reflects the surrounding hills, creating a picturesque scene with green and beautiful landscapes, making it a famous tourist attraction in Miaoli. The Rixin Island, located in the middle of the Mingde Reservoir, is surrounded by the lake and connected to the outside by Bridge No. 1 and Bridge No. 2. Walking on the suspension bridge provides a great view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Especially when the lake is shrouded in mist, the mountain colors and lake light create a serene and peaceful scene, like an ink painting. On the island of Mingde Reservoir, there is a famous century-old temple called Yongchun Temple. Built in 1847, originally named "Hai Tang Palace", it was renamed "Yongchun Temple" in 1860. The platform in front of the temple offers a panoramic view of the Ming Lake and Su Di. Following the path beside the temple leads to the Ming Lake Su Di walking trail, which is about 400 meters long. The trail is lined with various plant species, such as dawn redwood, weeping willow, and mountain cherry. The beautiful scenery often attracts many tourists to spend their afternoon here.
