南投縣仁愛鄉仁和路合歡山主峰登山口
Hehuan Mountain National Forest Recreation Area straddles the border of Hualien and Nantou Counties, rising from 2,300 to 3,400 m above sea level and covering 457.61 ha. It is Taiwan’s highest national forest recreation area. Within its boundaries sheer peaks and deep gorges run in succession, forming the hub that links the Hehuan massif and the Qilai range—an ideal venue for mountaineering. The elegant Hehuan summits provide the scenic backbone; along the way one can admire the Qilai ridges, Zhongyangjian, Nanhu and Yushan. Varied topography and abundant rainfall nurture a wealth of alpine flora: in spring, Yushan and red-hair rhododendrons; in midsummer, Taiwan lily, Japanese knotweed, goldenrod and Yushan edelweiss; in autumn, Taiwan monkshood and Yushan pink—all set against emerald arrow-bamboo meadows and pristine fir forest, a veritable fairyland. Winter’s low temperatures bring snow, turning the landscape silver-white. Highway 14A, intersecting with the Central Cross-Island Highway, makes this Taiwan’s premier snow-viewing destination; Wuling Pass marks the island’s highest road point. Hehuan Mountain’s vigorous life in every season awaits your discovery!
