嘉義市東區成仁街82號
Let the 70-year-old house keep pouring for you The house that Doujiu calls home is nearly seventy; the landlord says it once sold rattan chairs. At the crossroads of Chengren and Lanjing Streets, suit shops, furniture stores and quilt vendors once thrived, then faded with the times, almost slipping from local memory—until new restaurants moved in and brought the corner back to life, turning it into one of Chiayi’s freshest draws. “Doujiu” is Taiwanese slang for “pour the drink.” On Facebook the bartender nicknames himself “Ba Tiande,” his posts warm and witty. Though it’s an old-house bar, the vibe is pure fun: friends, co-workers and students book the whole place for parties. Ba Tiande admits private bashes can get wild and need plenty of babysitting, but he finds guests adorably human when they relax too much and lose control. The best-selling cocktail is “Amber”: vodka shaken with Alishan oolong, Wenshan pouchong tea, honey and soda—a “tea-booze” blend that tastes of Chiayi, stays light, and suits almost everyone. Come to Doujiu, order the truffle fries and chicken wings first. Photo: Chiayi City Government Tourism & News Dept. | Photographer: Marg.
