The Marine Hakka Trolling Net Culture Center officially opened on June 19, 2020. The Xinyi District has a high proportion of Hakka people, making it an authentic Hakka town. It has preserved many ways of life that are different from those of the nearby mountain Hakka villages and has developed a unique "ocean farming" culture. The "trolling net" here is a fishing method developed by the Hakka ancestors in Taoyuan, which emphasizes teamwork and shared benefits. This not only reflects the traditional value of fishing but also demonstrates the unity and mutual assistance of the Hakka people. The center is a three-story building with a blue and white exterior, featuring installations such as fishing sheds and painted floats. The first floor is an agricultural and fishing experience area and an agricultural product sales area where visitors can try the authentic "trolling net meal". The ecological aquarium showcases various cute marine life. The second floor is an indoor bar and outdoor resting area. The third floor is a preserved military lookout tower that offers a panoramic view of the trolling net bay. The center exhibits historical photos of trolling nets, fishing gear, and precious cultural relics related to agriculture and fishing, making it a worthwhile visit. Besides enjoying the local trolling net cuisine, visitors can also gain a deeper understanding of traditional Hakka ocean culture through the exhibition of Hakka marine life images.
