Largely covered by rolling hills, Huben Village lies just south of Linnei Township. Its ecosystem is in excellent condition, and every summer the globally endangered black-faced spoonbill arrives to roost, departing around November; hence the village is nicknamed “Home of the Black-faced Spoonbill.”
Taiwan blue magpies, Mikado pheasants, black-crowned night herons, and ruddy kingfishers can also be seen here, along with plants such as Dendrobium orchids and “thunder-gun” ferns. With support from the local community development association and the government, Huben has become Linnei’s model eco-village for education, tourism, and leisure.
