The Origin of Xue Xue Cultural Creativity Industry (XUE XUE INSTITUTE) In response to the growing societal desire for "learning platforms" and the industry's demand for cultural knowledge and creative inspiration during the transformation of Taiwan's humanistic thinking and economic industry, Mr. Lin Bo-shih and Mrs. Hsu Li-ling initiated the participation of many cultural and creative industry elites in Taiwan. In September 2005, they established the Xue Xue Cultural Creativity Industry Co., Ltd., with its core values being "culture" and "creativity," and its business scope including "education," "research," "exhibitions," "consulting," and "incubation." In the latest studies of socio-economics, the global competition in the 21st century is no longer merely a competition of economic strength between countries, but rather a competition of the economic strength of cities based on "global cities." Global cities form different industrial advantages through "city networks" based on their geographical locations and unique cultural creativity. They trade goods and services with the most appropriate transaction costs. Therefore, if a city becomes disconnected from the international network, it not only loses international resources but also the vast hinterland of the city loses international competitiveness. If a city occupies a specific position in the international network, it will continue to flourish due to the thriving international trade, while the opposite would lead to perpetual stagnation and decline for both the city and its nation. In this new transformation of globalization, Taipei faces both crisis and unprecedented opportunities. Amid the rise of major Chinese cities and the competition among Asian cities, the previous position of Taipei as a city in the "world manufacturing center" network is rapidly being marginalized by Dongguan, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. The position of Taipei as the "Asia-Pacific operation center" is gradually being replaced by Shanghai. Even in the audio-visual entertainment industry, Taipei is being squeezed out by Seoul, South Korea, and Bangkok, Thailand. However, Taipei also has the best opportunity in history to transform into an international city. With our leading democratic experience in the Chinese world, our familiarity with global trade and economic knowledge, and our relatively broad freedom and cultural life, Taipei can become a representative of Chinese cultural creative cities that take on the role of "design," "creativity," and "Oriental aesthetics." In the global division of labor among creative cities, it can stand shoulder to shoulder with cities such as New York, London, Milan, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Tokyo. Taipei has the most outstanding objective conditions among Chinese cities. As long as we start to launch the "cultural enlightenment" of Taipei and combine the aspirations of citizens and enterprises for personal or career transformation, Taipei has an excellent opportunity to become the representative city of the East in the "East meets West" global trend. Xue Xue Cultural Creativity Industry connects experienced cultural and creative operators in Taiwan with creative people from around the world. It builds a bridge for learning and communication between the fields of culture, creativity, philosophy, and technology, business, and economy. It will make full use of the modern corporate management concept of economies of scale and deeply explore the cultural connotations that business people often neglect. This is the first cultural and creative education and exchange platform in the Chinese world. The aesthetic general education it provides, ranging from the mind to skills, will affect the future of the entire Chinese people! Culture and aesthetics are becoming a popular topic in the future. In the 21st century, the previous notion that "culture" and "economy" were separate has changed. "Culture" has not only become the core content of the "knowledge economy" and the "experience economy," but it is also the source of creativity in the "creative economy." Everyone consumes "cultural products," and to create added value, products must rely on the "emotional impact of cultural life." This change partly stems from the fact that the supply of "standardized, functional, and low-cost" products is abundant and no longer able to stimulate consumption. Partly, it is due to the new aesthetic demand of the consumer society for "creating an idealized self." New consumers expect each product and service to have unique inner value, allowing them to achieve the lifestyle they desire. In other words, everyone wants to be a consumer with cultural abilities and also hopes to be a producer with cultural abilities. This is the context in which Xue Xue Cultural Creativity Industry was established: society in Taiwan urgently needs to enrich and nourish its cultural perception abilities in a short period of time, from both the aspects of life consumption and work production. The education of culture and aesthetics (starting from culture, philosophy, and history, extending to the application and value addition of cultural and creative industries, and going down to the understanding and application of cultural symbols) has begun to become a popular topic. Learning is the most trending career of the era. In the workplace of the 21st century, "lifelong learning," "learning anytime," and "opportunity-based learning" have become the new rules for modern workers. In the previous manufacturing era, the development of an individual's life was linear: graduation, employment, marriage, childbearing, promotion, and retirement. Each life stage could be anticipated and controlled. However, in the creative economy era of the 21st century, an individual's career not only faces the possibility of being broken, changed, and transformed at any time, but the personal knowledge and skills accumulated through school education are no longer sufficient for the ever-changing job opportunities. Individuals must constantly maintain the desire and courage for "re-learning" in different jobs and life stages to seize new career opportunities. This is the main reason for the establishment of Xue Xue Cultural Creativity Industry: Taiwan has entered a society for the first time with a "cultural and creative learning trend." The learning of all workers is no longer "management" and "technology," but "culture" and "creativity." It has begun to learn how to use "cultural capital" and experience the opportunities for business found in life.
