Located on the western side of Yangming Mountain National Park, it is a volcanic depression between the main peak of Daitoushan and Ezi Mountain. The road is flat and the terrain is wide and open, with three ponds in the middle. Due to its location on the leeward side of Daitoushan, it is often covered with clouds and mist, offering beautiful scenery. Additionally, as this area is located between the subtropical and warm temperate zones, the climate is mild, the forest is complex, and there are numerous plant species. The edge is mainly covered with forests of Machilus thunbergii, black pine, and maple, creating a quiet and deep mountain valley atmosphere.
The shrub and sub-shrub layer is mainly composed of Taiwanese Prunus, Eurya, Ilex, black star cherry (ink spot cherry), long-stalked Boehmeria, Acer ciliatum, and Taiwanese Panax. The herb layer is mainly composed of Alpinia zerumbet, Indigofera hirsuta, Taiwanese Indigo, Cynanchum amplexicaule, Salvia patens, Begonia bowerae, and various ferns. The entire area is now planted with rhododendrons, mountain cherries, small-leaf red maple, black-barked kauri, various butterfly host plants, nectar plants, and dozens of aquatic plants, making it suitable for butterfly watching, bird watching, hiking, sightseeing, and plant observation.
