花蓮縣新城鄉秀林鄉於中橫公路178K之處
The Zuilu Ancient Trail was part of the Hehuan Cross-Range Trail during the Japanese colonial period. Along the route are relics of indigenous settlements and memorials, offering significant cultural and historical importance, hence designated as a "Historic Site Preservation Zone." In 97 Minguo era (2008), following comprehensive restoration and maintenance by Taroko National Park Management Office, it reopened to the public. To visit, visitors must submit a mountain entry application in advance to the Taroko National Park Management Office. Exploring the Zuilu Ancient Trail allows hikers to experience rich natural landscapes, discover rare indigenous plant species, and enjoy expansive panoramic views of the Lidahu River Gorge from the trail, with the path feeling like a promenade amidst the clouds. Part of the trail crosses the Zuilu Cliffside, where the narrow trail runs vertically about 500 meters from the Lidahu River valley, categorized as a challenging hike. Therefore, individuals with weak constitutions, cardiovascular diseases, acrophobia, pregnant women, and children are inadvisable to enter. The Taroko National Park Management Office has also installed protective railings or chains on narrow sections to ensure climbers' safety. Before entering the historic trail, visitors must comply with the trail regulations and observe visitor guidelines, striving to preserve the fragile natural environment.
