The WenChang Temple in Xinpu was built during the Daoguang period and is one of three WenChang Temples in Hsinchu County. It was rebuilt during the Guangxu period due to old age. The rebuilt temple is a study and a temple, and it is a representative building of the civilization and culture in Xinpu. In the early years of the Republic of China, the temple suddenly caught fire and was destroyed. Therefore, in 1995, it was rebuilt. The main deities worshipped at the temple are the Emperor of WenChang, WenKui, Zhu Yi, Wen Heng Sheng Di and Fu You Emperor, which are of the multi-theism of Taoism.
