高雄市鳳山區光明路151號
The splendid "Fengyi Yu Huang Gong", commonly known as Fengshan Temple of Heaven, dates back to 1798 and is located between Guangming Road and Zhongzheng Road in Fengshan District. The temple enshrines the Jade Emperor and was initially a modest structure with earthen steps and thatched roof; however, due to its antique charm and effectiveness in granting wishes, it gained increasing prominence and eventually developed into today's grand and majestic scale. The Heaven Temple is built as a two-story South Chinese-style palace, adorned with ornate wooden carvings and paintings, exuding overwhelming momentum. The temple roof features immortal Three Elders representing Fu (Blessing), Lu (Wealth), and Shou (Longevity), along with twin dragon towers depicting a dragon and phoenix dance as well as vibrant porcelain tiles in vivid colors—all displayed exquisite craftsmanship and dazzling splendor. Inside the temple hall, the most renowned are the single-character inscription plaque advocating moral teachings and the vividly lifelike procession of deities depicted in delicate jade inlay works. Other notable features include wood and stone sculptures of exceptional beauty on display both inside and outside, filling the space with an atmosphere of religious artistry. In addition to serving as a spiritual guardian, the Heaven Temple stands as the staunchly altruistic and public-spirited temple in Fengshan. It not only helped establish library buildings but has also generously issued scholarships to support local students from modest backgrounds and disaster relief, hence maintaining a large and continuous population of devotees.
