新北市石碇區石碇東街53號
Located in New Taipei City, Shihding East Street is a rare "street that doesn't see the sky" in Taiwan. The houses on East Street, built along the Wutuku Creek, are constructed on a suspended riverbed. Most of these houses are built with local creek stones. Shihding West Street was the earliest developed area, but currently, East Street has a larger population and is gradually replacing the old prosperity of West Street. It features unique diaojiaolou architecture, "streets that don't see the sky," and century-old stone houses. The century-old stone house, made of stone, is a rare local characteristic building that allows you to feel its centennial history. The stone house refers to the two connected houses in East Street, a Chinese medicine shop and a grocery store, where the stair walls are all carved out of stone. The main hall is equipped with medicine cabinets, stone mortars, and balance scales left behind by ancestors. Climbing up the stone stairs, you can see a backyard, where stone tables and chairs are covered with moss, and the stone wall still faintly shows the traces of Buddha images, allowing you to experience the feeling of living in the past.
